Abstract

The Hub strategy brings together Council services and other agencies working towards the wellbeing of the community. This approach has provided an opportunity for the library service to work with a wide range of partners. The overall vision for delivery has brought all services together working towards the achievement of wellbeing goals for citizens . One of the key partnerships that has been solidified since the launch of the strategy has been with C&VUHB with the launch of joint projects, health programmes and more recently joint buildings as evidenced by Capel i Bawb at Cardiff Royal Infirmary which amalgamates library services into the health offer at this facility and the launch of Wellbeing Hub @ Maelfa. The project brings together Cardiff Libraries with C&VUHB to widen access to therapeutic resources and library services. Library book vending machines will be made available to patients in health settings in order that they can better manage their own health and wellbeing. Patients will be able to access the books 24 hours a day using their library card and return them to either the machine or their local library. The strategic nature of the partnership with the Health Board provides an opportunity to Cardiff Hubs and Libraries Service including:- - Access to new customers for wider library services - Extended reach into a wider variety of customers who may not have considered library membership or services including those from ethnic minority communities - The ability to add value for existing customers in adding another outlet for accessing library resources - The ability to benefit from the trusted brand of the Health Board which will provide increased integrity to the health focused collections that will be provided.
