Abstract

Award of the contract for NRW. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) harvests approximately 800,000 m3 over bark standing (obs) of timber from Welsh Assembly woodlands each year. Of this, 330,000m3 is harvested by Direct Production i.e. NRW commissions the harvesting to roadside with their own harvesting machines or engages contractors to carry out the work. The remaining 440,000 m3 is sold as Standing Sales. Wales Harvesting & Marketing Strategy sets the proportion of the larch harvest to be felled using service contracts to sell to sawmills in Wales and the roadside larch programme is 50000m3/year. The roadside larch timber has already been committed to road-side sales contracts for the next 5-10 years. The roadside larch timber is typically located on steep ground and sites frequently have complex constraints. WHaM South needs to secure the services of 3 contractors for 5-years and give them a timber commitment by volume. This will ensure that competent suppliers will commit to using modern efficient equipment on NRW land to ensure our fulfilment of NRW sales contracts. CPV: 03000000, 77000000, 77211100, 77211300, 77211400.
