Abstract

Cardiff Metropolitan University needs to replace its current data storage with a modern, innovative, robust and cost effective suite of storage services for use with its corporate IT systems. The solution must also incorporate data centre networking, backup and disaster recovery requirements and other associated infrastructure. Please see further details of each requirement below. - 60TB of usable production storage and 60TB of usable storage for development and disaster recovery. - A means of backing up Cardiff Met’s data and virtual servers must be incorporated. Any physical servers will continue to utilize the current backup system. - The backup process mentioned above must be able to meet the RTO and RPO requirements of university’s services. These are 4 hours (RTO) and 1hour (RPO) for the university’s most critical systems. - Data Centre networking to provide connectivity for the above. - A large proportion of Cardiff Met’s servers are already virtualized however some additional servers are required to complete the virtualization of key systems. - Additional services such as support, training, documentation and professional services. This tender will be conducted fully electronically.
