Abstract

The University of Cambridge, department of physics, provides modern laboratory accommodation and state of art research facilities. The Maxwell Centre, which is operated by the department, is a place for interdisciplinary research where industry can interact with academia and will house the new system.

The department has several low temperature and high field systems, with this new system providing a unique combination of ease-of-use with a range of capabilities including ultra-low temperatures, variable temperature range and very high magnetic fields. The versatility of the system is important as it will be part of a materials characterization suite in the Maxwell Centre which will have a broad user base.
