|
Total quantity or scopeLot 1: Main Site Tower Refurbishment (Estimated GBP 12.7 m).
This appointment is focused on the redevelopment of the main site tower to create a new world class facility for the School of Law, a social hub and cafe space and the connection and integration of these spaces with the existing Peter Froggatt Centre (PFC). The proposal is to reduce the height of the existing 11 storey tower to 9 storeys, strip the existing building back to the structural frame and to modify and extend it to form a new landmark home for the School of Law and to construct a new 3 storey link building between the tower and the PFC . The GIA of the new and extended facility will be approximately 6410 M2. This will incorporate a social hub, cafe, teaching rooms, a mooting room, staff and student offices and meeting rooms.
Lot 2: Computer Science Expansion, Bernard Crossland Building Refurbishment (Estimated GBP 9 m).
This appointment is focused on the delivery of a new redeveloped and extended Bernard Crossland Building, to provide world class facilities for teaching and research in Computer Science. The proposal is to strip the existing building back to structural frame and modify and extend it to form a new landmark home for Computer Science, providing around 4,500 m² GIA. This will incorporate student hub facilities, computer laboratories, specialised laboratories, an interactive lecturing space, project spaces and office accommodation over four floors and include a new multi-storey link to the adjacent houses on Malone Road, which will be given a light refurbishment as part of the works.
Lot 3: School of Biological Sciences (Estimated GBP 25.2 m).
This appointment is focused on the delivery of consolidated accommodation for the School of Biological Sciences on the former Science Library site and the adjacent 14A Lennoxvale site. The requirement to co-locate and consolidate the School at one location has created a requirement for a new building of approximately 11,100 m² GIA. The proposed site is restricted and complex with occupied neighbouring properties, restricted access and significant level changes. The building will incorporate biological sciences teaching and research laboratories, secondary laboratory space and office accommodation over four floors with a partial basement level for plant.
Please refer to the preliminary design briefs which accompany the pre-qualification documentation for further details of the projects.
The University also reserves the right to make further appointments to the successful contractor for each Lot, should further requirements be identified at the site of the works over the next 3 years. Further work will be subject to the University securing appropriate funding, however it is envisaged that this will not exceed a maximum of GBP 4 million for each Lot. These appointments will also be subject to satisfactory performance by the contractor. |
