Careers Wales are seeking to appoint a provider to deliver a national enterprise challenge for primary schools as part of our delivery of the Big Ideas Wales contract. The contract will be for the duration of 2 academic years, 2023 – 2025. Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd (CCDG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Welsh Government trading as Gyrfa Cymru Careers Wales, we are contracted to provide all age, independent and impartial careers information, advice and guidance service for Wales. We help people understand the changing jobs market and to acquire new skills to take full advantage of the opportunities open to them. We provide access to high quality information and online resources to enable people to make informed and confident decisions. Our work helps to develop the nation’s skills base and to support the effectiveness of expenditure on education and training, thereby contributing to the economic and social well-being of Wales. 1. Total quantity or scope of tender

As part of our Big Ideas Wales contract, we aspire to increase the number of schools across Wales participating in enterprise learning as part of their delivery of the Curriculum for Wales, we also want to provide schools and their learners with new opportunities and experiences to develop their enterprise and entrepreneurial skills.

Your requirement is to design and facilitate a national enterprise challenge for primary schools that aligns with the principles of the Curriculum for Wales. This challenge should be accessible to schools across all regions of Wales and should include showpiece regional events to enable schools and their learners to participate in enterprise and to enhance their enterprise and entrepreneurial skills.

To encourage and to support primary schools and teaching professionals to participate in the enterprise challenge, you should also provide teachers with opportunities for expert CPD focussed on enterprising creative contributors and how participation in the enterprise challenge will support their delivery of enterprise in the Curriculum for Wales.

To support with the delivery and facilitation of the enterprise challenge and events, you are also expected to establish connections and partnerships with other key stakeholders across Wales, who can provide input and expertise to the challenge and events, this could include but is not limited to Local Authorities, Regional Consortia, businesses and employers, entrepreneurship role models, and Further and Higher Education providers.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

The enterprise challenge:

• To devise an enterprise challenge that is flexible, inclusive and which aligns with the principles of the Curriculum for Wales.

• To promote the enterprise challenge to all primary schools across Wales and to register and monitor schools’ engagement in the challenge.

• To provide resources, information and support for teaching professionals on the enterprise challenge. This should include marketing materials and online resources such as social media, websites and video tutorials.

• To provide opportunities and experiences within the challenge for learners to enhance their enterprise and entrepreneurial skills.

Regional showcase events:

• Central to the enterprise challenge should be 5 x showcase events across North Wales, Mid Wales, South East Wales, South Central Wales and West Wales, that enable schools and their learners to participate in enterprise activities, as well as also providing an opportunity to celebrate their success of undertaking the challenge.

• To design and coordinate showcase events across the regions identified above and to promote and register schools’ attendance at these events. Social media should be utilised to promote and to celebrate schools’ participation in these events.

• These events and associated activities should provide learners with opportunities to enhance their enterprise skills as well as to develop their core skills such as oracy, numeracy, team working etc.

Professional learning for teaching practitioners:

• To provide an offer of expert professional learning for teaching professionals on enterprising creative contributors and how participation in the enterprise challenge and the showcase events supports their delivery of enterprise in the Curriculum for Wales.

• Professional learning should enhance teaching professionals’ knowledge and skills on enterprise education and increase their confidence to participate in enterprise.

• Professional learning opportunities need to be factored into the schedule of your delivery model and should be offered via a blended mix of face-to-face workshops and online sessions. We would expect an initial half day face to face session located within each of the 5 regions identified above, with up to 2 x additional follow up online sessions.
