NHS Kernow has multiple providers delivering NHS Funded non-emergency patient transport; leading to a disjointed and ineffective service, with areas of duplication and inconsistent determination of eligibility which is costly and confusing for staff and patients.
NHS Kernow wishes to commission one universal NHS Funded non-emergency patient transport service across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. In order to ensure the needs of patients are met by:
— improving the quality and value for money of services.
— introducing a single point of access for all types of non-emergency patient transport; and.
— ensuring patients access the right type of transport for their needs.
The universal NHS funded non-emergency patient transport includes the following elements:
— Centralised Booking Service,
— Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (mainland),
— Car Services,
— Qualified Crew Ambulance Services,
— Isles of Scilly Travel Service,
— Specialist Mental Health Transport.
