North Bristol NHS Trust provides hospital and community healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, together with a range of regional services.
The Toxicology Section at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, requires a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometer that must be capable of general unknown drug screening and quantitative drug analysis covering a wide range of commonly encountered drugs of abuse and therapeutic drugs, including sedatives, antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, antipsychotics, stimulants (for example amphetamines, cocaine and ketamine), synthetic cannabinoids, new psychoactive drugs and fentanyl analogues in complex biological matrices such as blood, urine and other tissue extracts. The system must be capable of systematic toxicology analysis incorporating an extensive range of targets in a single analytical run and provide excellent sensitivity and reproducibility for quantitative analysis.
