On 3 December 2013 Costain Ltd held an Opportunities and Engagement Day at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport. The event was aimed at finding local suppliers that have the potential to provide services to Costain in their delivery of public sector contracts throughout Wales. The event, hosted by Business Wales, was a huge success, with over 300 delegates registering (more than the capacity of the venue!) and circa 150 attending. During the event Costain talked about the current projects, tenders and opportunities that they are working on which include; • A465 Heads of the valleys • Swansea Boulevard • all-Wales communication • Swansea Tidal Lagoon • M4 Corridor around Newport • Cross Hands Eses development • South East Wales framework • Southern Bristol Link Road • ABC Electrification • Rail, New Nuclear, Water & Power sectors Delegates also had the chance to: • meet the project teams • meet the Carbon Trust so see how they can help make business efficiencies • attend workshops being held throughout the day on working winning and tendering and how to use technology in business. Sell2Wales played a key part in ensuring the event was so well attended by promoting it to hundreds of relevant local suppliers registered on the Sell2Wales database. ‘Statement from Costain on the event’ This event was a success from start to finish. This day also acted as a networking opportunity for the local SME throughout Wales. We have to date identified approx. 20 companies that we see possibilities for in the future and will continue to develop these relationships. The way we matched companies to projects enabled us to get best value and target the appropriate trades for us to meet our individual project requirements. We were keen to emphasise the importance of innovation throughout the supply chain and from feedback to date the event reached the desired audience and proved to be an excellent way of communicating future works in Wales. If you were unable to attend the event and want to find out more about working with Costain, please follow the link below to find out how or get in touch with one of the supply chain managers – sarah.thomas@costain.com
